My name is BonnieJeanne Gerhart and I look forward to meeting you and your child.

I am passionate about teaching children and fostering a love of learning at an early age.  Pre-K is a time for students to gain independence and confidence in a loving and nurturing environment and at Babbling Brook we provide that environment.  The enormous growth we see in this age group, emotionally, physically and academically, is what draws me to Pre-K and keeps me on my toes every day!

My Teaching Philosophy

At Babbling Brook, your child will be immersed in authentic experiences that ignite curiosity.  My philosophy is that this curiosity, with teacher guidance, will instill a lifelong love of learning.  The small class size allows me to follow the students’ lead and tailor educational experiences for a one-of-a kind approach that is sure to keep the curiosity alive and result in immense growth for your child.

"BonnieJeanne is amazing!  If your child is in this age group, I would not think twice."

My Story

I am a New York State dual certified teacher in childhood and special education.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College with a minor in Education and a Master of Education from Fordham University where I graduated at the top of my class.

My path to become an educator is not a typical one.  I spent the first 15 years of my career in corporate fashion and retail.  After my twin daughters were born, I decided to return to school to become a teacher.  After graduation, with my student teaching completed, I accepted a position to teach elementary school for the 2020 – 2021 school year.  When the pandemic closed schools to start the year, I decided to remain home to focus on my own Kindergarten aged daughters’ home school experience. Saddened and disappointed that my own children would not have the opportunity for the social development of in-person Kindergarten I decided to open Miss BonnieJeanne’s Kindergarten Pod in my home.  There, I guided 11 students (including my own) through their virtual learning programs and provided all the benefits of in-person learning from a certified educator in a group environment.  Once schools re-opened, I taught Kindergarten in the Mamaroneck School District through the end of the year.

My experience teaching during the pandemic inspired me to open Babbling Brook Pre-K.  As certified educator, with experience of teaching a small group in an at-home setting and a deep understanding of the expectations of a student upon arrival at Kindergarten, I am uniquely prepared to guide your child through this education transition.

In addition to my state teaching certifications, I am certified in First Aid and CPR and am up to date on all supplemental trainings required for a New York State educator.  I am also the coach of the Harrison High varsity cross country and track teams and a Daisy Leader.

I live in Purchase with my husband, twin 7 year old daughters and our black lab, Gus.  In addition to teaching I love to stay active in as many ways as I am able.  I am an avid runner and love being outdoors.  Since moving to the suburbs I have embraced gardening, bird watching and learning about the world around me.  Pre-pandemic my family and I were big travellers, never saying no to an opportunity to go somewhere new and learn about the culture and nature of our destination.  We hope to get back to that passion soon!  My role as a teacher allows me to bring these passions into my teaching in authentic and teachable moments

I look forward to meeting you and your child and showing you our learning spaces.  Send me an email, give me a call or shoot me a text and I will get back to you right away!
